Londonderry is a town in western Rockingham County, New Hampshire, situated between Manchester — the state's largest city — and Derry. With a population of nearly 26,000 residents, Londonderry offers the convenience of suburban living just minutes from the region's largest job market and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, which sits partly within town limits.
The area was originally known as "Nutfield" for its dense stands of nut trees before being settled in 1718 by Scots-Irish colonists, who named the town after Londonderry in the north of Ireland. Incorporated in 1722, Londonderry was once the second-largest town in colonial New Hampshire, and the neighboring towns of Derry and Windham were later formed from its original boundaries.
Londonderry is especially known for its apple orchards — including Mack's Apples, Sunnycrest Farm, Elwood Orchards, and Woodmont Orchards — which line the town's designated Apple Way scenic byway and make fall apple-picking a beloved local tradition. The town is also home to the headquarters of Stonyfield Farm.
